We have always made time to travel. We like to do one group trip to the beach, one group trip to the mountains, a trip to see family, then either an international trip of some sort or a snowboarding trip, with other small trips here and there. But now we have the time to take extra trips or join other outings that may pop up. For example, in August, I got to go on a last minute road trip to stay with my brother and go to a concert in Virginia. It’s just nice to have the time to travel and not be beholden to available PTO and the schedule of others that may have wanted the same day off.
Before retirement: Previously on trying to schedule a good week/weekend to get together with out of town friends while still working full time…No, can’t do that weekend, but maybe I can get those days off on the other date and then we can drop you off at the airport on my way to work.
After retirement: Most recently on scheduling a weekend get-together while working very part-time…Sure, those days sound good.
It’s things like this that may not seem like much on their own, but they really add up to make life a lot more enjoyable. We have time to travel, so it’s time to travel.
