Time to Travel: Temecula, CA

Instead of purchasing season tickets for Charlotte FC, we figured we would travel to a few road matches instead and then piece meal tickets here and there for the home games.

When the schedule was released and we saw they played LA Galaxy at the end of February, I texted my brother and flights were booked. This was our first visit since they recently became empty nesters and they were excellent hosts. When we arrived they had stocked the kitchen with an assortment of beer and vegan treats. They were also exceedingly generous in treating us to meals and boba. They do still love to spend money and enjoy eating out every meal.

We went to an Erewhon that was about 20 minutes from the Galaxy stadium just to see what it all the fuss was about and order our $20+ smoothie. “We’re on vacation!” Unfortunately, Kate had to go to Colorado for the day to see my niece play in her first collegiate soccer game so was gone all Saturday. What were the odds the games fell on the same day? Charlotte FC started out rough giving up 3 goals in the first 13 minutes of the game. It was a very disheartening match to see after traveling across the country. At least my brother enjoyed it in his new Riqui Puig jersey. Sadly, he is the one player we like on the Galaxy and he is out for the year with injury.

We drove to San Diego one night and had an awesome meal at Tacotarian after catching the sunset out on Coronado Beach.

Spent the mornings watching the Namibia Watering Hole that is continually on in the background tv, working out or playing pickleball at Temecula’s awesome pickleball complex, drinking coffee, enjoying the weather and sitting by the pool. We went for a couple of hikes (Dripping Creek and some Moreno Adobe). Excellent lunches at Gentle Grill and Kompoocha.

All in all, a nice little Cali getaway.
