It’s amazing how few people can fathom living a life without the necessity of going to work.
Once I tell someone I plan to work less than 10 shifts per month, they immediately ask, “What are you going to do with all that time?”
Surprisingly, even one of my best friends from College 1 that has always been one to delve deep into whatever his hobby de jour acted like he wouldn’t know how to spend his time without work.
Have you ever had a day off? Do you know how fast it goes by? It either flies by because you are doing something you enjoy doing or it flies by because you are dreading the work day that is coming.
Perhaps you have not earned the right to decide what you do with your time until you have spent the majority of your life grinding away at a workplace. False.
While I am surprised people don’t know what to do with an abundance of free time, I know it is a good idea to actually have a plan. While we don’t mind putzing around, we need to ensure we’re not squandering our days away. Because while I wouldn’t ideally choose to go to work, it does provide a base level sense of purpose. Forunately, I have been crafting a list of Possible Futures and Things I Would do if I had more free time. Perhaps, I need to explore those more closely if I have just 1 month until freedom strikes.
